Napowrimo 2018 – day 12

COLD

if it were not
quite so hot here
my thoughts would freeze

Off prompt today for napowrimo.net. I wanted to try my hand once again at the Burmese poetry form of Than Bauk.  I find this form extremely challenging, despite its simple structure – 3 lines of 4 syllables each. Last syllable of 1st line rhymes with 3rd syllable of 2nd line and 2nd syllable odd 3rd line…and poem should be witty in nature – I have yet to write a Than Bauk that I am truly happy with…but one never will succeed at what one does not try.

By the way, it’s not actually nearly as cold as my poem makes it sound ☺
