Beacon

oh how
I long to shine
like a beacon in the dark
guiding the weary traveler
To safety and rsest

oh how
I long to shine
like a beacon in the dark
but too often I find
that I merely flicker
and burn out

~~

For dVerse. My muse has been flickering recently, but shone brightly enough today to write a Quadrille (poem of 44 words) including the prompt word “flicker”

  1. How I can relate, smiles ~ At least we try, though we are merely flickering through.
Thanks Bryan for being part of our celebration. Cheers!!!

  2. You’ve expressed this feeling so very well. Sometimes the strongest resolve melts, flickers out. Or sometimes, something can rekindle that flicker into a flame! 🙂

  3. I guess sometimes when we try to shine (do) too much it does burn out the light. It gets down to we need to take care of ourselves to be able to be there for others…so I learned after years of nursing, not that I’m any good at it.
