When snow comes early

I’m not a huge fan of winter, so I’m trying to see the beauty (and at times, the humour) even in my least favourite season

I.
reds and golds shiver
beneath white
as limbs hang low beneath the weight

II.
the blackbird’s song
is silenced
as he sends a tweet
to his travel agent

III.
adults grumble
about finding the shovel
but children move snow gladly
so that
a snowman might be born!

IV.
the web of a spider
is transformed
by a dusting of snow

V.
it is said
that every flake of snow
is unique from every other –
the poetry of clouds

VI.
cold is banished
by the crackling of flames
and laughter with friends
