Winds of Change

sometimes the winds of change
are fresh breezes that cool and soothe
they move the stagnant air of “same”
refreshing the earth a pleasant scent
sometimes the winds of change
rustle through the leaves
removing the detritus of previous years
and knocking down the cobwebs
so all is once again clean and verdant
sometimes the winds of change
seem to invite us to dance for joy
for they whisper to us that we are
no longer shackled to yesterday
sometimes the winds of change
are hurricanes that leave us b r o k e n
and picking up the pieces.
