Syrian Refugees – Dollars and Sense (NaPoWriMo Day 18)

some folks are whining about all the
cash that the government’s been
spending to bring refugees across
the ocean to start a new life in Canada and
…I wonder if those folks have forgotten
the cost of lives for
every dollar left
unspent?

~~

I’m not following the NaPoWriMo prompt today, because the crisis in Syria (and the callous response to their plight that I’ve seen from far too many) has been weighing on my mind.

  1. So true. Unfortunately, compassion seems to have an expiration date.
Here, people were welcoming refugees with open arms, but the mood is starting to tip, as everyone starts to think about money. 😦

  2. I hear you, I really do. I’m about ready to become a hermit, just so I don’t have to read all the negative comments that follow any article/posting/word about anything, it seems.
