The NaPoWriMo prompt for April 13 is to write poems based on fortune cookies, Perfect prompt, as I still remember the fortune I received when I went out for Chinese food just under a week ago: “Forget the stock market. Invest in family”.
There’s wisdom in fortunes when you
find them in cookies but sometimes they
might not mean what you think that they say
“A smile is your passport into the hearts of others”
is a wonderful bit of wisdom
for potential con artists
“A dream you have will come true”
that’s right, you’ll run and run
but the monster will always be faster
“a very attractive person has a message for you”
that message is
“I’ll get a restraining order…”
“Your golden opportunity is coming soon”
too bad that it’ll turn out to by
“Forget the stock market. Invest in family”
because you might be surprised
how much you can sell them for.
Yes, I have a bad habit of trying to deliberately misinterpret fortune cookies.
