NaPoWriMo Day 11 – 6:30am on a day off

In front of me, a book
coil-bound and lined,
half filled with
ink-marks that create words,
words that create
stories, poems,
shopping lists,
words that represent
fragments of my thoughts.
In many places scribbled out,
discarded, rejected words.
Occasionally, words left to stand
in a form that I’m not
displeased with, and
if the kids didn’t have school
I would be sleeping.

At NaPoWriMo, Maureen wants us to write poetry that describes something, and end with a line that seemingly has nothing to do with the rest of the poem, but is, in some way, actually related (I used my last 2 lines instead of just the last one).
