A Pace Reduced

On pavement we can drive with ease
at sixty miles or more per hour
but in that comfort and that speed
we’ll hear no bird, we’ll smell no flow’r
The dusty, dirty, potholed path
that forces us to stem our speed
may make the journey oh so long
but maybe that is what we need

at Dverse, Bill is asking us to write 8 line poems…and if possible, having the theme of roads.

  1. Gee, I might be #1; a nice take on the prompt. Which form is this, ababcada? I liked it. Great theme, nice execution.

  2. Good one…yes, I’d prefer getting out of the car and walking, especially on a path or road not taken often where it is clean and green and full of wildlife and interesting people.

  3. Beautiful! This reminded me of taking the north shore road on Maui. You can’t drive fast, unless you want to drive off a cliff into the ocean, but driving slow with the windows down you see and hear so much that you’d miss otherwise. Peace, Linda
