Free Advice – or – A Subtle Adjustment of Punctuation Reveals a Startling Truth

It’s easy enough
to spout off free advice
but when was the last time
you actually wanted
to receive it?

Or if we take it,
does it really improve things
are just muck things up
even worse?

If Timon and Pumba
hadn’t convinced Simba
with their own free advice
to abandon his responsibilities
all the conflict
in that Disney tale
might have been resolved
a whole lot sooner

And remember, by their own admission –
“It’s our problem:
free philosophy

So ignore that “free advice”
and look for the opinion of someone
who might actually know something
cause all that free advice
is gonna cost you
all of your hakuna matata

  1. But would Simba have become the lion he did if he had lived under the domineering paw of his uncle all those years? Maybe that was some free advice worth taking! And, after all, what kind of story would it have been if he had gone home?

I love this piece, Bryan. Your poetry always gives me a smile. Thanks for sharing!
