Madame Light

Where the starlight begins by Catrin Welz-Stein

image used with by permission of the artist: Catrin Welz-Stein.  Please check out her works at

Preparing the sky for when

the sun goes down

She spreads astral lights for

the sky like a gown

She walks up on stilts as she

visits the moon

She’s stringing up stars for the

night-time is soon

Then pours for herself out a

glass liquid light

Imbibes Milky Way for she’s

done for the night

Then off to her home at a

place all aglow

Admiring her handiwork

through the window

The world is now ready for

the dark to fall

Her night-lights have been placed for

one and for all

Written for dVerse, where we’ve been invited to write poetry based on the artwork of Catrin Welz-Stein

    • Thank you! Honestly, I wanted to write a poem called, “Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds”, but apparently that one has already been done 🙂
